As a founding member who was the first secretary, in 1999, then not allowed to join the fb-group, in 2017, I am so angered, saddened, and embarrassed. That's as wrong as not sending those ticket sales from the Queen Mary event to the widows and children of 911-killed firefighters.
This organization has not appeared on the IRS Business Master File in a number of months. It may have merged with another organization or ceased operations.
This organization's exempt status was automatically revoked by the IRS for failure to file a Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-N, or 990-PF for 3 consecutive years. Further investigation and due diligence are warranted.
This organization is not registered with the IRS.
That's as wrong as shunting off and destroying the carefully created rules, such as voting for officers in less than every five years.
That's as wrong as not buying books to send to Region 7, Philippines, as promised.
The mission statement should still exist. The mission statement would be that the City of Opon on the Island of Mactan has emigres to the fifty United States who participate in service missions to help lift up the Philippines, especially the Visayas, through education, mentorship, volunteering, donations for scholarships, from Overseas Filipino Workers in the United States, from American citizens who are Filipino American, from American born citizens who are spouses of Filipino Americans, from American born American citizens who are Filipino Americans, and from Friends who would like to participate in Christian (mainly Roman Catholic) settings, through a social club which works as a fraternity or soriority to encourage all Americans to learn about Philippine culture.
We should be as circumspect as all those Christian business fraternities in Metro Manila. We should be as lovely as our Boholano, courteous brothers and sisters, and the legitimate friendship clubs they have invited us to. We should be representing Opon, Mactan, Cebu, Philippines with humility unto God and with, again, a circumspect civic pride of where Filipino and American values meet.
Instead, this.
How sad and wrong, to keep what the founding members created, with the "K" in Amerika, and to throw away all our hard work along with civility and responsibility.
How horrible! This is only my response, but it is a valid response.
