Feb. 5th, 2020 02:13 pm"Male dogs have a bone in their penis. This is easy to feel when you advance a catheter in the urethra. The urethra actually travels through a trough in the bone. Now, suppose you put a catheter in the urethra, and just as it reaches the back of the bone (called the os penis), you feel grating. This can mean you bumped into a small stone stuck there. If that's the case, take a radiograph and see if you can see a stone. If there is a stone there, we need to return it to the bladder by backflushing the urethra. If it is really stuck, surgery is required to remove it."
