Sterile dressing pads (4") (can substitute sanitary napkins) For covering wounds
Band-Aids For people with small wounds
Cling gauze For holding the pad on a wound
Gauze sponges (2") For covering or cleaning wounds
Adhesive Bandage The final cover on a bandage that adheres to hair
Thermometer For measuring body temperature
Scissors For cutting bandage material
Antiseptic soap/solution (e.g. Hibitane skin cleanser) For cleaning wounds
Antibiotic cream or ointment (e.g Polysporin) For topical treatment of minor wounds
Pepto-Bismol For stomach upset, dose at ½ to 1 ml per pound body weight, three times daily. Do not give to cats (see below)
Eye wash (sterile saline) For washing eyes (people or pets)
Hydrogen peroxide 3% To induce vomiting, dose at 1 teaspoon per 5 pounds body weight
Plastic Elizabethan collar To prevent your pet from licking wounds or irritated skin, or rubbing at sore eyes and ears
Blanket (or towel) To keep dogs warm or for carrying them (hammock style)
