Lupus is named supposedly for the rash that persons with the physical illness would have. Reference: wolf, like "lupine."

It means a loss of muscle mass, and symptoms of chronic rheumatoid arthritis.

It can seriously and adversly damage primarily the heart, the lungs, and the kidneys.

I believe that pollution causes lupus.

Blood tests can verify specificities as to the pathology of the disease inside a person, and measures how much lupus you've got, what stage you are in, etc.

There are times when lupus seems to be in remission, and symptoms are barely felt; I find flares more common and noticeable as the years pass.

A dozen years ago, it was not uncommon for somebody diagnosed with lupus to die after less than three weeks.

Nowadays, it is quite more fashionable as charities to donate to, if it is for "lupus research" but these organizations might be private, might be non-profit, also.

I have had lupus since 2007. It is now 2018. I find I am in my twelfth year.

I can honestly vouch for how a regimen of regular exercise helps me retain muscle mass, and keeps my heart healthy.

I balance the diagnosis with eating healthy meals, and much meditation and tai chi chuan and prayers.

Taking years of martial arts really frames my perspective from a kinesthetic and holistically healing point of view: Tae Kwon Do, Kali/Arnis/Esgrima, Capoeira, Maculele, Silat, Dahnmudo, Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, as well as Dancing and Pilates, and a lot of stretching.

Being hydrated also really helps, as well as taking vitamins.
